What we are about. On March 15, 2013, a Kenyan rapist finally received life in prison thanks to an 11-year olds mother. In December, 2011, a neighbor captured and raped 11-year old Mumbua while she was out buying milk. When she didn't return home, her brothers and family started looking for her. When they found her, she was severely and brutally raped. The rapist had begun running off at the sight of the search party. When they took the rapist to court, he had strong lawyers defending him. Mumbua's mother came to the IJM to help her with the case. Everything went smoothly at first. Then, the family started receiving threats that they would be killed, and the brothers backed down. But the mother testified, the man went to prison, and the family is safe to this day. Happy ending right? Unfortunately, that's not the case for a lot of people like this around the world. The IJM does there best to stop, but without you supporting them, or donating, they can't prevent things like this from happening. Join us now, and end this nightmare that kids everyday are facing. |
